Skiing In Color

The lack of diversity among skiers and snowboarders is largely apparent to anyone who has ever been to a ski resort. This problem continues past the resort level and into the marketing materials shared with the masses. This can cause people not to be able to see themselves in these spaces while also making visitors feel uncomfortable or less than, which makes these spaces less diverse and inclusive.

In 2020, Lamont Joseph White, a Utah-based artist and snowboarder decided to explore the lack of diversity and inclusion in space through his series of paintings called Skiing in Color. This series is meant to showcase black and brown people in white environments and thriving and start the conversation about diversity and inclusion in the ski and snowboard industry.
