Winter’s Eve | Featuring Kishi Bashi

In March of 2022, renowned violinist, Kishi Bashi, traveled with filmmaker Max Lowe to the Northernmost point of the continent. In partnership with Polar Bears International, the pair performed and recorded Kishi’s new single, Winter’s Eve. Their hope was to inspire the change needed to combat climate change through this beautiful song - a language universal.

On the film, Max says, “A shift in perspective is an intimate and vulnerable thing to observe. Through my friend Kauru’s eyes, we see that in the story of our changing climate and its direct impact on the polar bears of Hudson Bay, not through the eyes of someone who knows the story of the Arctic, but by someone who has just observed it for the first time. Through that experience, K was able to change his perspective and acknowledge his responsibility as an artist with a voice of his own to speak out. In recognizing that each one of us, whether we know the Arctic intimately or not, has a responsibility to speak in the voice they have, we can shift the conversation in the right direction, one voice at a time.”
